We return to our section of tattoo style in which we are detailing and making known the different styles of tattooing that are present today in the world of tattooing. Although in our last installment we talked about the biomechanical style of tattoos, this time, we veered towards one with greater artistic roots. And please don't get me wrong. I don't mean that other tattoo styles are not artistic. Specifically, I am talking about abstract and / or avant-garde tattoos.
And it is that when we talk about abstract style tattoos, we must take into account what abstract means as a concept within the world of traditional art. Since from this starting point we can extrapolate it to the tattoo. Within abstract art, what is sought is the accentuation of the forms, abstracting them, moving them away from the imitation or faithful or credible reproduction of the natural (mimesis).
Therefore, what is sought is to reject almost any form of copying of any model outside the artist's conscience. Abstract art is applied in many types of visual arts, from painting, sculpture and, in this case, the world of tattoos. Abstract art is understood to be that which dispenses with all figuration. The last thing you will find in works of abstract art are definite shapes. Abstract art stops considering the need for figurative representation justified and tends to replace it with an autonomous visual language, endowed with its own meanings (iconography)
What do you think of abstract and / or avant-garde tattoos? Take a look at the following image gallery. As you can see, we are faced with a style of tattooing in which the only barrier you will find is your own imagination.
