Isobel Varley, known as "the most tattooed woman in the world", dies at 73

Isobel varley

Sad news with which we ended this Tuesday in Tatuantes. The one known as "The most tattooed woman in the world" has left us. That's right, as you can read in the headline above, Isobel Varley has passed away on May 11, 2015 at the age of 73. One of the most iconic people in the world of tattoos and body modifications is leaving.

Isobel Varley was born in 1937 in the city of Yorkshire, located in the north of England. And contrary to what most people who are not very into this world may think, Varley did not start tattooing when he was young. His first tattoos were captured on his skin when he was 49 years old.. Just after visiting a tattoo congress in the British country in 1986.

Isobel varley

Isobel Varley's first tattoo was a bird on her right shoulder. Apparently it had great meaning to her. With the passage of time he came to capture all kinds of tattoos on his skin. From flowers like orchids to other animals like a tiger. And apparently (I have not found a confirmation on this or a recent photograph), the only areas of his body that he left without tattooing were the palms of his hands and the soles of his feet.

Already in 2000 he rose to world fame when Isobel Varley entered the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Tattooed Woman in the World." What has been said, since Tatuantes We convey our condolences to his family. Rest in peace.
