Do you want to cover up? Some things to keep in mind

Cover up tattoo

It is not the first time in Tatuantes we touch on the subject of cover up. That is, tattoos on top of other old tattoos that we want to cover or hide. In recent years, with the proliferation of many tattooists whose quality with the tattoo machine would be, at least in question, there have been other many tattoo artists who, almost necessarily, have specialized in covering and / or fixing real aberrations on the skin.

Although in some cases there are those who choose to make a cover since they have "tired" of their old tattoo and want to wear a new one on top, these cases are almost residual and the vast majority decide to cover their tattoos with larger ones because the tattoo they made in their day did not turn out as they expected or directly, it was a bad job that has gotten worse over time.

The before and after of a mix between cover and tattoo arrangement.

Now, in case we have made the decision to want to cover our tattoo with a new one, there are several aspects that we must take into account since not everything goes in this case. Although yes, there are true "artists" who can cover any tattoo with an authentic work of art. Despite this, having a cover up has its limitations and we will talk about this in this article.

You can't always cover a tattoo

And it's that simple. Not all tattoos can be covered with another. Especially if they are made exclusively with black ink and despite the passage of time the tattoo continues to look almost like it was just done. It will be very difficult to hide it with another tattoo on top. In these cases, we have two options, hide it with another tattoo or directly go through the laser and when it has cleared, we can tattoo anything on top without problems.

A cover of a cover? If it's posible

Within the absurd, we can find situations so unlikely, such as a person doing two cover ups in the same place. That is, cover two tattoos. In these cases, the truth is that I would personally resort directly to the laser and when the tattoo, rather the tattoos, are almost completely erased, it would allow some time for the skin to regenerate correctly (since that area will be very crushed for having tattooed several things one on top of another) and I would reflect on whether the tattoo artist we are going to has the true quality to make us the tattoo we want. And yes, oddly enough, if you search the net, you will see numerous examples of people who have covered a tattoo that previously had covered another.
