Mercadona and visible tattoos

Mercadona It is one of the most recognized Spanish companies both for its size and importance. However, on occasions, the supermarket chain is involved in certain controversies such as the last one denounced by the Galician Intersindical Confederation (CIG). And it is that Mercadona has instructed all its staff to hide visible tattoos or piercings that they can wear with the company uniform.

The truth is that it is a somewhat strange measure if we take into account the entire history of the company and that today the tattoos they are more normalized than ever. In countries like Spain, there are hardly any social and / or work areas left in which wearing tattoos is frowned upon. At Mercadona, such is the desire to put a stop to visible tattoos that, according to the CIG, sanctions will be imposed on those workers who do not comply with the regulations.

According to the information collected by a Galician media, the union has accused Mercadona of creating this new slogan in order to control employees: "It violates individual rights and constitutes one more manifestation of the policy of tight control exercised over workers".

For now the warning has not passed the verbal warningIn other words, no worker has been sanctioned. If we discard tattoos on the hands or on the face, workers will have it really easy to cover these tattoos, since they can use long-sleeved uniforms to cover them or, in certain cases, use a bandage to cover small tattoos. As for the piercings, if they are not in the healing process, they will have it relatively easy, remove them during the working day and later put them in their place.
