Air New Zealand has become the first airline that will allow its staff to wear tattoos without any problem. Due to its Maori heritage, the New Zealand airline has decided that its crew members can have tattoos in places as visible as hands, neck and face. A very important measure that will help normalize what is already common, having tattoos.
After conducting a study among customers and employees, the aforementioned airline has come to the conclusion that there is a high level of acceptance in relation to tattoos as a form of express individuality or cultural heritage. As of September 1, 2019, all Air New Zealand personnel will be able to put an end to the measures they took to hide their tattoos.
The only condition that has been put on the table is that tattoos are not offensive. Christopher Luxon, Chief Executive Officer of Air New Zealand, made the following statements: "Allow all of our personnel, from the cabin crew to the pilots, to the airport customer service teams, to display non-offensive tattoos in visible places when wearing their uniforms".
Without a doubt, this measure is news, however, lovers of body art hope that the time will come when this type of action should not be the front page of the media because it has reached the total normalization of tattoos. Something that, unfortunately, does not happen today in certain social and / or work areas.
