In recent months the possibility of the entry into force of a rule that would prohibit tattoos in the Civil Guard it has been hovering around everything that this state security body entails. However, now everything suggests that this will not be the case thanks to the decision made by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.
The minister has ordered the General Directorate of the Civil Guard withdraw the draft of the general order with which he intended to "regulate" the physical appearance, the attire and the behavior of the agents. Among other measures, they also wanted to ban tattoos in the Civil Guard and even unify hairstyles. The possibility of smoking during service hours was also restricted.
Due to all criticism received by members of the meritorious and the threat of the professional associations that, today, had even announced the intention of resorting to the judicial system if the text initially notified was not withdrawn, Marlaska has asked Félix Azón, Director General of the Civil Guard, to draft another draft that has a greater consensus and support from the agents themselves.
The main associations representing the Civil Guard had shown their determination to "stand up" to the project that sought to restrict the tattoos.
