Almost all of us can reach recognize some cities only seeing a monument or a silhouette of the skyline. These places, monuments or buildings have managed to become representatives of the cities in which they are located, so that when we see them we instantly relate them.
If you are in love with a city, or it means a lot to you, you may want to do one of these city inspired tattoos. We all recognize Paris for the Eiffel Tower, London for Big Ben or Barcelona for the Sagrada Familia. So that's what we mean when we pay tribute to a city with a tattoo of its best-known monument or something that defines it.
Skyline tattoos
The skyline is one of the things that were previously recognized in the most popular cities. This word refers to the line of buildings that can be seen against the sky. On many occasions it is represented only with the most emblematic monuments and buildings of the city, to make it much more recognizable. The good thing about getting a tattoo of this type is that it is very conceptual and simple, almost minimalist. In this case we see silhouettes that are clearly inspired by London, with Big Ben, the London Eye or London Bridge. They can be small tattoos, ideal for the wrist, arm or the side area.
Black tattoos
The cities represented in tattoos are almost always rendered in black ink. If we only want to highlight the silhouettes, a building or something that is of great interest, then black lines will suffice. It is the most common, although it is not always done that way, but buildings do not usually have very striking or characteristic tones, so they are not used in general. As we can see, silhouettes of cities and even buildings can be represented in detail without adding color. Do not forget that cities are almost always associated with shades of gray.
Colorful tattoos
In counterpoint we have the more colorful tattoos. Obviously, these tones are pure fantasy, to give color to the tattoo, since they have nothing to do with cities or their monuments. It is a way to give a tattoo vivid tones in a contemporary way. As we can see in both, tones that represent watercolors are used, with different intense tones. The result is quite striking and original, although perhaps it takes away the prominence of the silhouette of the cities.
London Inspired Tattoos
These tattoos are clearly inspired by the city of London. Big Ben is one of its best known monuments, although there are many others. Some of them can be combined, such as the London Eye or the famous double-decker buses. They have even added touches of imagination, with Peter Pan on one side, as Big Ben appears in the cartoon film, and with fireworks on the other.
Paris as inspiration
These tattoos pay homage to the most romantic city in the world, Paris. Without a doubt its star monument is the Torre Eiffel, so its silhouette already makes it clear to us what the tattoo is inspired by. You can make tattoos with more details or that simple, at the choice of each one.
Amsterdam tattoos
These tattoos may not be so recognizable, and it is that not everyone is familiar with the typical houses of the Amsterdam city, which are located next to the canals. In short, each person can choose the inspiration they want from the city they adore and there are many things that can define them, not just a monument.
New York tattoos
New York City is also another one of those places where there are many symbols to represent it. The Empire State or the Statue of Liberty they serve to remind us of this interesting city.
Rio de Janeiro tattoos
We end up with another city that is easily recognized thanks to one of the monuments that has been around the world. We refer to Rio de Janeiro and Christ the Redeemer or Cristo del Corcovado. In these tattoos they have added it with great detail, as if it were a photograph, but its silhouette can be simplified into a tattoo if desired.
