Types of Tattoo Machine: Pneumatic or Air

Pneumatic Tattoo Machine

Third and last article in our series in which we review the different types of tattoo machine. While in the previous two articles we talked about rotary tattoo machines and coil machinesOn this occasion, we will focus on the most modern and less known by fans of the tattoo world. I speak of the pneumatic tattoo machines, or rather, compressed air.

As we say, it is the most modern type of tattoo machine And although the vast majority of tattooists opt for the two classic ones (rotary and coil), little by little it is gaining followers since, as we will comment later, it has different advantages with respect to the types of classic tattoo machines. . Its operation is similar to that of a coil machine, but its handling is much simpler.

On the one hand, we find that they are a good option for left-handed tattooists Since, by not having a motor on it, the tattoo artist can grasp it with either hand without the motor of the machine disturbing when viewing the area in which we are doing the tattoo. Although, it would not be a determining factor since tattooists have always been working with other types of machines and there have been no problems in being right-handed or left-handed.

Pneumatic tattoo machines make use of a compressed air system, so it requires an air compressor for proper operation. Although, they are also equipped with an electrical system to be able to function in case of not having a compressor. They are silent and lighter machines. Unfortunately, its price is much higher than that of another type of tattoo machine.

These machines consist of a pedal and an air regulator system. They replace the classic coils with the pneumatic system where you connect a hose. The motor is made of aluminum and titanium. The air regulating system is in charge of being able to calibrate the machine, so that there are no jerks when tattooing. On the other hand, it is also interesting to note that these types of machines tend to be less aggressive when piercing the skin.
