This implant is a fairly new creation, as it was invented by the modifier Emilio González, from Venezuela, in 2004, and soon it became so popular that it is already distributed all over the world. González's idea was place a jewel almost anywhere under the skin, unlike conventional piercings, that need a "pinch" like the ear or the lip to be able to pierce the skin.
