Pisces is one of the signs of the zodiac with the oldest record. In fact, the first reference to this sign is neither more nor less than the year 2300 BC, on the lid of a sarcophagus from ancient Egypt. It is customary to represent with two fish, sometimes two koi carp, chasing each other, while its symbol with two parentheses crossed by a horizontal line.
There are a multitude of legends that are associated with Pisces, although there are many that have a basis that matches. The most famous is the one that states that Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed into fish to flee from a fearsome monster that Gaia sent to kill them.
