Tattoos and summer, details to take into account if you are going to go to the beach

Tattoos and summer

Tattoos and summer. A not very good combination although on which too many urban legends and erroneous beliefs weigh. On Tatuantes we have spoken on more than one occasion about the tattoo healing process. With the arrival of the heat it is already common to see the first bathers and people who decide to spend Sunday on the beach to sunbathe. That is why I would like to comment on some tips and details to keep in mind if you have just had a tattoo.

In the first place we must start from the basis that a freshly done tattoo it is a wound on the skin. The healing process of the tattoo takes several weeks and during that time we must exercise extreme caution if it is summer. The first thing is to avoid bathing, either on the beach or in a pool (even if it is from our own home). We will have to wait 15 days to be able to take a bath without risk. In addition, with the heat the problems of dryness in the skin are accentuated. We must be careful and keep the tattoo area well hydrated with a specific cream or oil for it.

What if I didn't just get a tattoo but I already have tattoos?

If it is the case that you are going to go to the beach and have one or more tattoos, what precautions should you take? Well, the first thing is to use a maximum graduation sunscreen and avoid exposing yourself to the sun for many hours at a time. This way we will maintain the vivid colors of the tattoo for a longer period of time.

Is summer a good time to take a bath?

Although I would like to answer this question in a separate article (which we are already preparing), it must be said that summer is not a bad time to get a tattoo. However, we must take into account the inconveniences that we will have if we decide to get a tattoo at this time of year. Greater care with the sun or not being able to bathe will be some of the impediments. Still, there is no increased risk for getting a tattoo in June, July or August. If you are a person who would not mind spending a few weeks without enjoying a swim in the sea or the pool. Go ahead, you will not have problems.

It will hurt, your back has many nerve endings, there are people who even get dizzy. But it is a bearable pain.
If you don't have sun-damaged or irritated skin, Yes

Hello, I got a tattoo on my leg two days ago and today I went to the beach, he sells me the part of the tattoo and I got a little wet, what will happen to the tattoo?

    1.    Antonio Fdez said

Hello Ezee, if after getting your tattoo wet on the beach you have washed it and re-cured the cream for its healing, nothing should happen (and even more so if it is a small tattoo). However, it is not ideal. It is important to avoid the beach, pool or gym for two weeks after getting a tattoo.

Hi, I got a tattoo 10 days ago and it's starting to get hot. Can I go to the beach now or do I have to wait longer?

    1.    Antonio Fdez said

Hello Oihane, if the tattoo is not very big you can go. But remember to protect it very well from the sun and clean it when you finish bathing on the beach. Do not forget to continue using the healing or moisturizing cream that you are using. All the best!

Hi, I got a new tattoo
And in about 12 days I'll go on vacation
And my question is if I can go swimming or if something happens?
The tattoo is not very large is about 14 cm

    1.    Antonio Fdez said

Hi Luis, I don't think you have problems. Use high sun protection, do not expose the tattoo too much to the sun directly and remember to cure it every time you finish a day at the beach and apply the relevant moisturizer.
